Pre Kinder 3-4 years

At Little Scribblers, our Pre-Kinder class offers a rich tapestry of early development opportunities for children aged 3–4 years, meticulously crafted to align with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the National Quality Framework (NQF), and elements from both Reggio and Montessori philosophies. Our curriculum seamlessly integrates key aspects of the first-year primary school curriculum in both New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria (VIC), ensuring a smooth transition into formal education while nurturing each child's unique strengths and interests.

Early development opportunities for your child

Little Scribblers are proud to run the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) for our pre kinder children. The EYLF is a national curriculum framework designed to assist educators in providing young children with opportunities to maximise their potential and establish a foundation for future learning success.

The EYLF is a key component of Australia’s National Quality Framework (NQF) for early childhood education and care. It aims to promote the continuous development of education and care services across the country. The EYLF places special emphasis on play-based learning and acknowledges the significance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) as well as social and emotional development. Your child will learn while having fun.

Have you heard about vision screening?

We provide complimentary School Readiness Vision Screenings for all children prior to the start of the school year.

Children rarely complain of eye problems, which is often because they do not realise they cannot see well and therefore are unaware of the problem. Occasionally, a child may have exceptional vision in one eye while the other eye has poor vision. A vision exam will detect these conditions.

Vision problems in children that go undetected can cause school and daily life difficulties, so it is essential to have your child’s vision examined before they begin school. Typically, the sooner a vision problem is detected, the more effectively it can be treated.

Our qualified Orthoptist will conduct a thorough vision and ocular examination on your child that goes beyond the standard preschool distance vision examination. This evaluation includes:

  • Visual acuity (single-eye examination of vision clarity)
  • Ocular movements and binocular vision (the degree to which the eyes move and function together)
  • Normal colour perception (colour perception aptitude)
  • Pupils and ocular appearance are evaluated

There are no eye drops used during examinations, and they are tailored to the individual capabilities of each child. Children who have not yet begun or mastered letter reading are given specialised assessments.

Social, emotional and cognitive development

In our Pre-Kinder class at Little Scribblers, we prioritise the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children aged 3–4 years, drawing inspiration from the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and blending elements of the Reggio and Montessori philosophies. Through hands-on experiences and meaningful interactions, we cultivate a supportive environment where children learn to navigate social dynamics, express their emotions, and develop essential cognitive skills. Our approach encourages curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving, empowering each child to explore their interests and build a strong foundation for future learning.

With a focus on holistic development, we nurture confident, resilient, and empathetic young learners who are ready to thrive in both school and life.

Pre-Kinder is a time of belonging, being, and becoming:

Belonging

Belonging is the foundation of a satisfying existence. Children experience a sense of belonging due to their relationships with their family, community, culture, and environment.

Being

Being entails existing in the present moment. Childhood is a unique period of life, and children require time to simply ‘be’ – to play, attempt new things, and enjoy themselves.

Becoming

Becoming focuses on the learning and development of preschool children. Children begin to develop their sense of self at a young age, which influences the type of adult they will become.

Our Pre Kinder program caters for 3-4 year olds.

Our Pre Kinder program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy.

We place emphasis on relationships as they are the very essence of learning in the first two years. This is reflected in each and every interaction a child experiences with our educators.
